Technology Evaluation

Many organizations struggle to understand which products and vendors best meet the requirements and needs of the business to achieve their goals.  In order to alleviate this difficult process, Visual Integrator has created a Technology Evaluation and Selection methodology that helps our clients empirically and quantitatively choose the right technology portfolio.  We incorporate different criteria depending on the appropriate technology industry and area that focuses on rating and scoring vendors based on our research, experience, and industry guidelines.  Our final result is a technology scorecard that ranks the competing technologies based on weighted averages in various areas.  The scorecard presents the results in an easily understandable and consumable format for our clients to help them justify their technology selection initiatives.  We supplement the scorecard with our own experiences and qualitative analysis, to ensure our clients fully understand some of the implementation pros/cons we’ve experienced in our numerous technology implementation projects.

A Technology Evaluation & Selection compares the available vendor products to identify the alternative that meets the business and technical requirements while providing the best integration with existing components. The technology evaluation includes reviewing product literature, reading independent research reports, attending product demos and discussing the underlying architecture of the product with the vendor’s technical team. Selecting the optimal products requires building a weighted requirements matrix to capture the information collected during the evaluation and to compare how the alternatives meet the requirements while supporting a Best-Fit Integration Strategy to minimize the cost and complexity of the systems architecture. The technology evaluation and selection is an iterative process with the systems architecture design process.
