8. What is the Curriculum for the Course?
The Curriculum can be found at following link: Training Curriculum
9. Can I join this training if I do not know WSDL or XSD?
Yes. The only prerequisite to attend this training is a fundamental background of any programming language, some work experience and the determination to learn. We will teach you the concepts of WebService so that you can get started.
10. Do I need Java or J2EE for understanding the underlying code?
BPEL is different from the traditional programming languages like Java and C. The programming is done through Oracle BPEL Designer, a graphical tool(plug-in into JDeveloper or Eclipse) and the resultant code is stored in a XML format that is compliant to the BPEL Spec. Internally, Oracle has implemented this in Java and uses a J2EE Application Server(WebLogic) to execute these objects. But, this is mostly hidden from the developer and so is not a prerequisite in knowing Java or J2EE for learning BPEL. BPEL’s main responsibility is to orchestrate the Services. The Services are primarily exposed as WebServices through WSDL. The business logic behind the Web Service could have been implemented in Java, C, PL/SQL, C#, etc. You do not need to know the internal implementation of the webServices to get started but just the WSDL. The BPEL Process is also exposed as WebService and can be invoked from Java, C#, etc. So, for learning BPEL, basic knowledge on webServices is required, which we will teach you. Creation of webService, WSDL, SOAP will be covered in the training.
11. What do I need to install before attending the training?
1. Oracle SOA Suite 11g
2. Oracle JDeveloper 11g
3. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition
The above software needs to be installed on your desktop to learn BPEL so that
a. You will learn to install the server.
c. You need to have at least 4GB RAM on your desktop/laptop. Please go through Memory Requirement from Oracle’s documentation.
Note: Do not underestimate the time required for setting up the development environment at your side. You need to start this at least a weekend prior to the start date of the training.
12. What happens if I am stuck while doing the exercise?
The trainer can take control of your desktop using the web conferencing software “GoToMeeting” and troubleshoot the issue.
13. Do you cover Oracle Service Bus during this training?
We explain Oracle Service Bus and show through an example and lab how Oracle BPEL interacts with Oracle Service Bus. We do not cover the entire Oracle Service Bus as this by itself is a 4 day course.

16. What is the difference between the 1 day BootCamp and the 5 day SOA Suite Training?
The 1 day SOA Boot Camp is a non-technical, SOA architecture-focused course that covers methodology and approaches for strategizing, architecting your Reference Architecture, developing a Roadmap, implementing Governance, and building business focused services.
The 5 day SOA Suite Training course is a technical, Oracle SOA Suite product-focused training course. While the Boot Camp focuses on SOA principles, patterns, approaches, and examples around these aspects, the SOA Suite is a deep product technical dive with exercises focused to train you on the tools and technologies for developing services, process models, and other important components on the SOA Reference Architecture.
The 2 courses complement each other nicely, which is why we offer both courses.
17. Why should I learn SOA and how do I benefit?
Enterprises are adopting SOA to enhance business agility, help in better integration and to have more visibility in the business operations. (In some cases, SOA adoption is done because it is considered to be an elixir for all the problems plaguing the IT department).
Oracle SOA Suite is one of the leading SOA products in the market, and many customers are buying it as the middleware solution for integration Oracle E-business Suite (EBS), JD Edwards (JDE), Siebel, PeopleSoft, and many more applications. Oracle SOA is the foundational technology platform for the future of all Oracle products, as you may have heard of announcements around Oracle Fusion Applications.
